We are proud and delighted to announce to our partners and employees that Klense is now accredited as a living wage employer!
What is the real living wage in UK ?
In the UK, the minimum living wage is £12.60. In London, it is £13.85.
Why this initiative?
The aim is to enable every employee to earn a decent wage that truly reflects the cost of living in the UK. Although this initiative is voluntary and not mandatory, it demonstrates the interest that employers have in their employees.
What does it mean when a company commits to a living wage?
This means that the company will now pay its employees according to the minimum hourly wage. In Klense’s case, this means that each employee will be paid £13.85 per hour according to the London minimum hourly wage standard.
Our official press release
KLENSE CELEBRATES COMMITMENT TO REAL LIVING WAGE
Klense has today been accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Their Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Klense receive a minimum hourly wage of £13.85, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £12.21 per hour.
Klense is based in London, a region where 14.4% of all jobs pay less than the real Living Wage – that’s 653,000 jobs. Despite this, Klense has committed to pay the real Living Wage and provide a decent standard of living for all their workers.
The Living Wage Foundation’s real Living Wage remains the only UK wage rate independently
calculated based on the cost of living, rising annually based on living costs. It gives employers
the confidence they are paying a wage that meets everyday needs, not just the government minimum. Over 16,000 accredited employers have secured over £3.6 billion of pay rises for low paid workers since 2011 and made a profound difference to millions of lives around the UK.
Moses Sokoya, Director of Klense Group Ltd, said: “At Klense, we’ve always believed that looking after our people is the foundation of delivering a quality service. Becoming a Living Wage Employer is not just a badge for us — it’s a statement that we value our staff and want them to feel secure and supported. By paying fairly, we’re building a team that takes pride in their work and helps us grow stronger as a business.”
Angelina, a Cleaner at Klense, said: “The Living Wage has made a big difference for me. With the higher pay, I don’t have to worry as much about bills, and I feel more appreciated for the work I do every day. It makes me want to stay and do my best for the company.”
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Klense has joined the movement of over 16,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Klense, believe that everyone needs to be able to live with dignity and have a decent standard of living.”
